Requesting Information
If you think the NerferWiki should cover a particular topic, but you aren't qualified to add the information yourself, or would like to collaborate on the topic with other editors, please follow these instructions.
Requesting Information on an Existing Page
If you think an already existing page should cover additional information, mention it on the talk page (linked to from the 'Discussion' tab) and put 'Information Request' in the summary field when you are finished.
Requesting a New Page
If you think an entirely new page should be created to describe a particular topic, you can add this topic with a brief explanation to the list in NerferWiki:Requested Pages.
Editing Pages
Wikipedia has an excellent guide for editing pages that also applies here. It explains the technical aspects of editing a wiki including how to use the markup language used in MediaWiki wikis. Wikipedia:How to Edit Pages.
A few other notes:
- Please add links to pages when they exist or you think they should. By typing double square brackets around a word or phrase, you link to the article with that title. For example if I were mentioning the Crossbow in an article, I could make that word a link as I have here.
- If you see false information on the page, please change it and note the change in the talk page.
- If you have any doubt as to whether you are adding truthful, reliable information to a page, please confirm it with a more experienced member by noting the information on the article's talk page before adding the information. It is very taxing to check all pages for accuracy and even harder for just those administering it to, so please only add information you have some certainty is true.
- Please put an explanation of the edits you have made in the "Summary" text field so that the history of a page is clear and can be skimmed.
Adding New Pages
When adding a new page, please consider the Goals of the NerferWiki. To create a new page, you can create a link to the page you would like to create in another page, and then click the link to be taken to the page editing tool. You can also type the title of the page you wish to create in the search bar, and then click on "Create this Page". This is also an excellent way to keep from creating a duplicate page. Other notes:
- Please use title case for names when creating new pages.
- Please link to new pages in the appropriate place. If you are uncertain of where to link to a page from, make a note of it in the talk page.
- Please use full names (Apocalypse versus Apoc, Lawn Chair Mafia versus LCM) when creating page titles, then use the line
#REDIRECT [[PageTitleToRedirectTo]]
on the pages for any possible abbreviations.
Adding Specific Types of Pages/Information
Pages About Blasters
Use the format bellow to create pages about nerf blasters. When you have created the page, add it to the Blaster List, Blaster Identification page, and the Blaster Abbreviations page, as well as the appropriate product line page.
'''Common Abbreviations:''' <br/>'''Released:''' <br/>'''Status:''' <br/>'''Original MSRP:''' <br/>'''Product Line:''' <br/>'''Stock Ammunition:''' ==External Image== ==Internal Image== ---- ==Description== ==Modifications== * *
Information About Modifications
If you are adding a link to a modification write up, add it to the Modification Directory as well as the page for the blaster that was modified.
